Examples for formal events are seminars, workshops. Then, what is included in public
speaking? Moderator, Presenter, and Event Host.
What are MCs? Someone who creates some form of entertainment, such as a radio or
television program or a nightclub, banquet, etc., introduces speakers or performers, fills in pauses
with jokes, etc.
The presenter or MC must have courage or confidence, master the language well, have
adequate general knowledge, be creative and full of initiative, have adequate "Sense of Humor" and
"Body Language" and the ability to process voice with intonation techniques. The good ones are fun,
not scary, not rude, not seducing, not nasal, not lazy, not weird, natural and microphone: round
tone, good timbre, enthusiastic and firm.
The main duties of a formal host or MC are to announce the event that will take place, to
attract the attention of the audience to follow the course of the event and to be in charge of
overcoming obstacles to the course of the event and being responsible for the event running
smoothly. In addition, an MC must be able to organize an event that will be hosted by him. Before
being assigned, the MC must check the loudspeakers, check the readiness of the event, check
attendance (Officials, Resource Persons and related officers). When an event is taking place, the MC
must be able to present the program well, listen to the program, control and manage the audience
and pay attention to cues, emotions, etc.
To become an event host or MC is not easy, sometimes when you come forward even before
you will feel nervous. To overcome nervousness, prepare the material that will be presented well, be
sure of your appearance, especially the dress code.
