1. (a) Paul was asked to find the density of the material of a dollar coin. He obtained the thickness,
t, diameter, d, and the mass, m, using the instruments shown in Figures 1–3. He noted that

2. (a) In an experiment to determine the melting point of naphthalene, a group of fourth form
students set up the apparatus as shown in Figure 7.
