HISTORY OF THE AUTAVIA

Hi everyone,

The story of the Autavia collection began with the creation of the first dashboard instrument
for automobiles and aviation in 1933, named “Autavia”. Screwed to the dashboard of a plane
or car, this time-telling device formed the basis of the unique Autavia aesthetics. The name
combines the beginning of the words “Automobile” and “Aviation”.

Heuer launched the first wristwatch in the Autavia collection in 1962, under former leader
Jack Heuer. In the following years until 1985, various other spins on the design have led to
the watch developing a cult following among collectors.

To respond to this demand, TAG Heuer officially relaunched the Autavia at Baselworld 2017
watch show. TAG Heuer asked the internet community to vote for their favorite Autavia
model – and over 50,000 people voted. From this, a new design that utilizes the Heuer 02
movement was created and has been a success ever since.
