Aim: To observe the effect of different enzyme concentrations on enzyme activity.

Research Question: To what extent does changing the concentration (1, 2, 3, 4, 5

mol/dm3) of catalase affect the volume of oxygen produced during the breakdown of
hydrogen peroxide?

Hypothesis: Increasing the concentration of catalase increases the volume of oxygen

produced until the available substrates are occupied, the rate of reaction remains constant,
and the volume of oxygen produced remains constant.

Variables:
Independent variable: Concentration of catalase
Dependent variable: Volume of oxygen produced
Controlled variables: Volume and concentration of hydrogen peroxide, volume of catalase,
temperature of reaction

Apparatus: Catalase, hydrogen peroxide, beaker
