English fricative are /f/ , /v/ - /θ/ , / ð/ - /s/, /z/ - /ʃ/, /ʒ/ - /h/

A fricative sound is a sound which is formed with a narrow opening


between the articulators, allowing the air to escape with an audible
friction. Fricatives are continuants.

1-/f/ is a voiceless , fricative and labio-dental sound.

2-/v/ is a voiced, fricative and labio-dental sound.

Labio-dental sound is a sound that is formed with the lip and the

upper front teeth.

1-/θ/ is a voiceless, fricative and dental sound.

2- / ð/ is voiced, fricative and dental sound.

Dental sound is a sound that made by putting the tip of the tongue

between the upper and the lower front teeth.

1-/s/ is a voiceless, fricative and alveolar sound.

2-/z/ is a voiced, fricative and alveolar sound.

Alveolar sound is made with the tongue tip and blade placed against

the alveolar-ridge.

1-/ʃ/ is a voiceless, fricative and post-alveolar sound.

2-/ʒ/ is a voiced, fricative and post-alveolar sound.

Post-alveolar sound is a sound which is made with the blade of the

tongue moves towards the back of the tongue.

0-/h/ is a voiceless, fricative and glottal sound.

A glottal sound is a sound which is formed at the glottis.
