Problem Statement

The following paragraph is written in passive voice. Rewrite the paragraph into the active voice.

“Natural disasters such as floods are caused by heavy and continuous rainfall in a place for a
long period of time. Flooding can be caused by heavy rain, cyclones, and storms, among other things.
Water reserves are filled by rain, and if it rains repeatedly for a long time, flooding may result from the
overflow of water. This year many villages in Pakistan were washed away because of this devastating
flood. The people of Sindh and neighboring Baluchistan have been adversely affected by these floods.
Many public health facilities, water systems, schools, and many other facilities have been damaged and
destroyed by these floods. These affected people have no access to basic necessities such as clothing,
shelter, food, and clean drinking water. The country’s economic and agricultural health has been badly
affected by these catastrophic floods.”
