Zena Abdelhamid Advocacy Plan

Write a small essay (1-2 paragraphs) on why advocating for yourself/your field is important to you and how creating an advocacy
plan can help you succeed.

Advocating for yourself/your field is important to get the most out of your job. If you’re not able to see change or reach your goals,
you’re probably not in the right profession. It’s important to have the drive and dedication to reach the goals set in this plan because
that shows that you have a passion for the field and want to see it flourish. Making sure that there is transparency and trust with all
three parties: parents, students and co-teachers will allow you to succeed in the job. This is important to me personally because PE
was always the class my parents skipped for parent-teacher conferences because they didn’t appreciate the value of it. Creating a
bridge between parents and teachers can allow them to get a better understanding of what their kids are actually learning in PE, and
they will grow to see it as a class that improves their lifestyle rather than just a class where they play dodgeball.
