Reflection
My goal is able to be continuously accomplishing this goal in new ways. Fostering effective relationships is built
passed a single semester of school. During my practicum I have engaged into the elementary sides of the school,
having available different teachers that I can talk with for advice or information. They are all always so happy to
help! I volunteered my time to coach the girls’ basketball program and will continue to head coach the team during
the next months of the new year. Being placed in my local community allows me to continue to participate in my
community and build relationships.

Goal # 2

Become effective in teaching students with technology.

first two weeks of practicum.

Reflection
Through my lesson planning I tried to incorporate some sort of technology piece regularly. The best part of my
practicum was being able to share my knowledge of Smartboard technology with the class. Students were always
eager to participate in front of the classroom and responded well when videos were played for them. The classroom
already had routine interactions with the Smartboard in their morning calendar. I was fortunate enough to be able
to design my own Notebook slides and incorporate activities that they were familiar with. Another tool used in the
class already was the iPads for readings. They were effective ways for students to listen to the story and read along. I
was never able to contribute to keep in touch specifically with parents. The main way of communication is through
the classic email. Though my basketball team is a space where I should have contact with parents, administration is
in direct contact between parents and coaches.

Goal #3

Incorporate FNMI knowledge into my lesson plans.

Reflection
Through my practicum experience I was able to focus two big lessons based on FNMI themes. There is still plenty of
room to grow and learn how to incorporate traditional knowledge into the everyday routines. My first lesson was an
art project that scaffolded off the holy spirit FNMI workers story he told the class. We had two grade 1 classes joined
in the art room to create a finger-painting image of a turtle based on the Blackfoot Creation Story. My second lesson
was incorporated in my senses unit when we were focusing on the senses of animals. My TA had an excellent
resource storybook where we dove into the meaning of spirit animals and converged it with animal senses. The
lesson was a hit as students found it more intriguing to have another hook to engage the students.
