Lesson 4 Development
Lesson 4 Development
According to Marcos, the Philippines won't re-join the International Criminal Court. The
announcement comes after the Hague-based ICC attempted to reopen its inquiry into the "war on
drugs" under former President Rodrigo Duterte.
Objective 1 and 2
What is a state?
A state is a political division of a population that inhabits a region enclosed by borders. The state
has the power to impose a set of laws on the residents of its area, which is sometimes referred to as its
"jurisdiction."
In order to create a law or modify an existing one, the institution, body, or person with ultimate
control over others is given sovereignty in any given state. In political philosophy, the term "sovereignty"
refers to the highest legitimate power over a state.
According to the theory of the interstate system, each state is characterized by how it interacts
with other states or how it participates in the global economy. Divisions between states also contribute
to the segmentation of the world into a core, periphery, and semi-periphery.
The ability of national governments to control their political systems and to steer and influence
their economies (particularly with regard to macroeconomic management) has decreased as a result of
globalization.
Objective 3:
"In what instance should other countries intervene in the internal affairs of a certain country?"
No State or group of States has the right to intervene, directly or in-directly, for any purpose
whatever, in the internal or external affairs of any other State, according to Article 15 of the Charter,
which forbids intervention "directly or indirectly."
