Directions: Answer the following questions

Define Regionalization

- Regionalization is the process of moving authority from the national or federal government to
the regions in order to better implement the subsidiarity concept.

What are the reasons of regionalization on the following organizations

ASEAN- With the aim of fostering regional peace and security as well as speeding economic growth,
social advancement, and cultural development, ASEAN was founded in August 1967.

EU- On the grounds that it has attained an unmatched level of supranationalism, the European Union is
usually regarded as one of the most "successful" (or most sophisticated) forms of regionalism (the
transfer of power from the level of states to that of superior intergovernmental institutions)

LAFTA- After the Second World War, the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America (ECLA),
which later included the newly independent Caribbean republics, proposed and supported the first
modern expressions of regionalism in Latin America.

AU- However, regional integration in Africa can be a key factor in delivering food and energy security,
diversifying economies away from reliance on the export of a small number of mineral products,
creating jobs for the continent's growing number of young people, reducing poverty, and fostering
shared prosperity.

What is Regionalism? How does it becomes a threat to globalization?

- Regionalism is seen by neo-liberals as a kind of political interference used by state regulators to

make up for the state's loss of primacy. It is thus opposed to globalization and the deepening of
market integration.

Discuss the importance of Regionalization on the following aspects:

Economic- the concentration of economic activities inside a specific region or nation, including
commerce in products and services, money flows, and human migration. The growth of intra-regional
commerce as a share of global trade and regional trade is a sign of this phenomenon.

Political- A political ideology known as regionalism aims to provide the citizens of one or more
subnational regions more political clout, influence, and/or self-determination.

Cultural- might be thought of as the development of societal integration within a certain area, including
the unplanned processes of social and economic interaction between the units.
