TITLE:

BIOVASTAL: A CARDIOVASCULAR SPECIALIZED HOSPITAL HEALING

ARCHITECTURE TOWARDS HEART-RELATED ILLNESSES, NAGA CITY

STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM:

1. What is the demographic profile of the users of a cardiovascular

specialized hospital according to age, gender, location and occupational

status?

2. What characteristic is appropriate in developing a cardiovascular

specialized hospital that will help towards heart-related illnesses in Naga?

3. Will the proposed project be beneficial to the people and its community in

terms of healthcare services and economic sustainability?

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

Architecture brimming with "Heal" concepts is used in a variety of human

activities thus engineers, artists, architects, all participate in this

Department of Architecture

transdisciplinary research. It is a global strategy that tries to apply psychological

concepts, processes, and forms to human problem solving, as well as to use in

vitro methodologies to research and develop products and services. Moreover,

Healing Architecture is a scientifically researched idea that promotes people's

physical and emotional well-being and the settings are intended to foster a

sense of contentment and peace to induce the human potential to self-heal, this

function-driven design typology integrates architecture, psychology, and human

anatomy (Jayachandran, 2022). Hence, the reason why the researcher choose

this approach because it will have a great impact in the process of recovery as

well as the wellbeing of the user specially when in use in healing environment

such as hospital.

The researcher will utilize this design for the project in order to achieve a positive

and statistically significant impact on the users through many effective design

elements such as natural ventilation and natural lighting. It is also another

approach to change the usual style of most hospitals, which is gloomy, lifeless,

and enclosed. It is time to take the initiative and implement modern architecture

in all sorts of buildings with appropriate and adaptable design that is appropriate

for the building and its purpose.

RESEARCH HYPOTHESIS

College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology
Department of Architecture

The researcher has developed the following alternative hypothesis to serve as a

guide for the study: a positive reinforcement of utilizing psychological impacts

through healing architecture is significant in the successful result of the treatment

as it provides beneficial benefits to the welfare and health of users as well as the

subjected community.

SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS / DELIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

This study focused on applying healing architecture which will be used as an

inspiration in developing a cardiovascular specialized hospital towards heart

related illness for the locals in Naga City. The researcher gathered information

regarding healing architecture styles with variations of designs that utilizes

psychological impact and techniques that will benefit the locals for the general

welfare and healthcare of the people and its society. However, the researchers

limited these studies to weather, budgetary, and time constraints.

RESEARCH DESIGN

The study utilized a descriptive research design, with data collected by survey.

The researcher was able to collect data and information needed for analysis and

comparison by using a descriptive online survey approach.

POPULATION FRAME AND SAMPLING SCHEME

Rizal Technological University
College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology
Department of Architecture

A purposive sampling was done and used the entire population inside and

outside of vicinity with a total of 406 users. In general, some of the responders

come from different socioeconomic classes; some are from the upper class,

while others are from the lower class. There are various approaches of

executing their solutions, some of which differ from one another.

DESCRIPTION OF THE RESPONDENTS

The respondents were made up of (321) students, (60) employed workers, (18)

unemployed workers, and (7) self-employed workers from Region V, all of whom

ranged in age.

RESEARCH INSTRUMENT USED

The study's instrument was a self-made questionnaire created by the researcher

to collect the necessary information from respondents. A questionnaire is a set of

questions that are asked to persons in order to gather statistically meaningful

information about a specific topic. When correctly created and administered,

questionnaires can be used to make statements about specific groups,

individuals, or entire populations (Roopa and Rani, 2017).

The questionnaire is split up into two sections, the first of which collects

demographic information from respondents such as age, gender, location,

occupational status, history of cardiovascular illness and having a cardiovascular

College of Engineering, Architecture, and Technology
Department of Architecture

specialized hospital nearby. The second portion of the questionnaire asks

respondents to rate what they like best and worst about the proposed project as

an individual or as a group. The overall satisfaction of the respondents was used

to calculate the respondents' overall score. Furthermore, before performing the

survey, the thesis adviser assessed the research instrument, and the researcher

integrated the adviser's comments and inputs to further build the research

instrument.

Likewise, the Likert Scale was used to evaluate the use or extent of practice or

promotion of Self-Regulated Learning strategies by the faculty members which

ranged from 5 Very Great Extent to 1 Very Least Extent.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA

The study's data was interpreted and analyzed using weighted mean,

percentage, and frequency.

CONCLUSION

1. The researcher concluded that the computed mean for the number of

respondents is equivalent to 203 who had agreed on having a specialized

cardiovascular hospital to serve and assist the local residents as well offer a

medical tourist landmark to the province/region. Furthermore, most of the

respondents came from the Camarines Sur.

2. Based on the results, the computed mean of respondents who had agree

and strongly agreed on the positive impact of having psychological design in

bringing the building, people and environment is equivalent to 199.1. This

shows that healing architecture has a significant contribution in elevating the

good experience and faster recovery of the patients and users.

3. The total number of respondents who had agreed about Biovastal as a

research facility other than hospital is 292 which aid in the improvement of

laboratory, testing, and research facilities for the study of cardiac disease.
