THE PANDEMIC NIGHTMARE

March 2020 when a nightmare had its visit in every country. The covid-
19 virus attacked every city resulting harm within the communities. The
government decided to lock down the communities to avoid further spread of
the virus. So, every family came together, but Blanc doesn’t like the idea.
Blanc, the youngest member of the Jorgia Family, a secondary student taking
a mid-year class, can’t even stand a minute talking with his dad. Mr. Jorgia,
the head of the family, is a busy person because of the nature of his work.
Blanc has two twin elder siblings named Bianca and Brian. The twins are
actually close to each other, but when it comes to him, they are just nice. On
the first day of lockdown, everybody seems aloof to each other. Blanc didn’t
try to approach even one of them. He decided to stay in his room, enjoying his
own company and comfort. On their third day, Mr. Jorgia experiences a heart
attack. “Blanc, help us here!” Brian shouted in a horrified tone. Blanc
immediately followed his elder brother’s voice. Inside his father’s room, he
found him laying on the ground while Brian holding him tight. He flinched a bit
then followed by confusion. “Call Dr. Leonardo, Blanc.” As Brian instructed
him to do, he called dr. Leonardo. While calling for Dr. Leonardo, Bianca
arrived and her face got pale. “What happened to Dad?” she rushed towards
him. Everyone gets worried about their father’s condition. An hour later, Mr.
Jorgia’s condition became stable as per Dr. Leonardo’s instruction.
Then the following days, The Jorgia’s siblings tried to take care of their
father, afraid that it might happen again. In Blanc’s case, he feels nothing.
“Come here, Brian, Bianca, and Blanc.” Mr. Jorgia said as they entered his
office. “Ever since your Mom died during her birth with you, Blanc, I tried to be
a good father. I worked hard to give you everything you need and want. But I
notice that I just created a gap with you.” “Why are you saying this dad?”
Bianca asked, trying to figure out what was going on. Mr. Jorgia smiled
weakly. “I have been suffering a mild heart attack before. But it has gotten a
lot worst lately. Last time Leonardo told me that if I suffered again from a heart
attack, I may not survive,” he sighed and looked at each of us, “My sons and
daughter, our foreign investors started to pull out their stocks because of this
pandemic. If this will continue--.” He lowered his voice as he looked down and
didn’t continue what he was going to say... That night, Blanc can’t fall asleep.
His father’s words keep lingering on his mind, so he decided to stay in the
kitchen where he drank a glass of water. Drowning in his thought, his father
arrived in the kitchen. “You’re still awake.” Blanc's senses came back then he
looked at his father. He stared at him blankly. Knowing that he grew up
without the presence of her mother, he feels void and lonely. Now that his
only parent was suffering from heart disease, he thinks that it would feel bluer.
“I also can’t fall asleep. Mind me joining with this wine?” his father showed him
a bottle of wine that he got from the rack. “Sure.” He simply said. That night,
Blanc had a talk with his father on their balcony. His father told him about his
Mom, and how they met and fell in love with each other. While looking at his
father, Blanc saw a different version of Mr. Jorgia. “You always miss her,
Dad?” he whispered. His Dad’s eyes were reflecting the little light coming from
the moon. Blanc knew that he was longing for her because of the sadness in
his voice. Mr. Jorgia crossed his arm and sighed. “Always.”
 Starting that day, Blanc’s feeling of blue lessened. He can laugh and
do things with his father. The twins also joined. They bake, watch, play chess,
laugh together, and share their thoughts. In the middle of the pandemic, Blanc
woke up because of Bianca‘s scream, crying for help. Mr. Jorgia got an attack
again and they can’t contact Dr. Leonardo. So they rushed him to the nearest
hospital. As they arrived at the facility, everyone was busy. Doctors and
nurses were not available. His father can’t hold it any longer. Blanc flashback
everything that he only had with his father.
During his first grade on his special day when he was gonna perform
on stage, no one attended for him, but his Dad made it on time. During his 7th
birthday, his father took him to an amusement park with a birthday gift. Then
whenever he has no umbrella on rainy days, his father was there to come for
him. It may be a few moments with his father, but he knows deep in his heart
that he always loves him. He is his only father and no one can ever replace
him. “I’m so happy that I live and meet you.” Those words suddenly utter by
Mr. Jorgia. Then the grip of Mr. Jorgia’s hand on his chest slowly loosen. He’s
not breathing, he’s unresponsive and he’s lifeless. Blanc’s Dad, Mr. Jorgia,
died. With that idea, he burst into tears, and he … Blanc woke up because of
the sound of the alarm clock then Bianca's voice Envelop his room, followed
by Mr. Jorgia’s voice. “Good morning, little baby.” Bianca greeted him. “Hey,
sleepy head, wake up!” his Dad cheerfully greet him. “it's time for recipe 26,
blanc. Common.” From Mr. Jorgia’s back, there is Brian’s head showing. He
blew deeply, feeling the relief in his chest. “What a bad dream.” He whispered
before getting off his bed.
