SURI IKUN

Long ago, on the island of Timor lived a farmer with his wife and fourteen children. Their
seven children are sons and seven are daughters. Even though they have a large garden,
the produce is not sufficient for the family's needs. The reason is that the existing plants are
often damaged by a wild boar. The farmer assigned his son to take turns guarding their
garden from wild boars. Except for Suri Ikun, his six brothers are cowardly and spiteful. As
soon as they hear the snort of the wild boar, they will run away from their garden. Suri Ikun is
different, when he hears the pig is coming, he takes a bow and shoots it. After the animal
died, he took it home. There was waiting for his brothers. The eldest brother was in charge
of distributing the wild boar meat. Because of his jealousy, he only gave Suri Ikun the head
of the animal. Of course, not much meat can be obtained from the head. Next, he asked Suri
Ikun with him to look for his father's grinder which was left in the forest. By that time it was
already evening. The forest is said to be inhabited by evil ghosts at night. With a feeling of
fear he walked after his brother. He didn't know that his brother took another road that led to
the house.
