Scope of Report

The proposed scaffolding as temporary works is designed for casting of RC beams

and slabs with various sizes and thickness from 1st floor to 3rd floor for the above-
mentioned project only. The design criteria shall based on the following.

i. Falsework to support weight from fresh poured concrete, formworks, runners

and self-weight of scaffolding frames and necessary bracings.

ii. Back props to be provided as per calculation require.

iii. No excessive stacking of construction material is allowed on top of the

proposed false work. Live load of 1.5kN/m2 to be allowed for working
activity.

Description: Scaffolding Support (180mm thick) Drwg. Ref.: Checked By: Sheet No.: 1

Loading data

The proposed scaffolding is to support loads for casting of RC slabs with maximum
150mm thickness at all floor levels. Scaffolding frame is to be erected at level below
and back props to be provided if necessary.

The proposed temporary support for casting of RC slab using Huatraco scaffolding
frames spaced within allowable working load.

The proposed scaffolding arrangement is as shown in the attached layout .

The scaffolding frames are spaced at maximum 1.8m c/c. Computation shall consider
loading on intermediate one frame:-

a.) Dead load

Load from fresh concrete = 0.15 x 2400 x 1.2 x1.8 = 778kg

Joint pin = 1kg/no. x 2 = 2kg

Cross brace = 5kg/no. x 2 = 10kg

Sole plate = 10 kg/no. x 2 = 20kg

GI pipe tie = 5kg/m x 1 = 5kg

2”x4” timber joist at base @450mm c/c = 0.05 x 0.1 x 1000 x 6 x 1.8 = 54kg

12mm thick plywood rest on timber joist = 0.012 x 1.8 x 1.2 x 1000 = 26kg

Total dead load, DL = 895kg

Say DL = 8.95kN

Description: Scaffolding Support (150mm thick) Drwg. Ref.: Checked By: Sheet No.: 2

a.) Live load

Consider the loading due to construction activity = 1.5kN/m2

Live load, LL= 1.5 x 1.2 x 1.8

=3.24kN

Total working load per scaffolding frame = DL + LL = 8.95 + 3.24

= 12.19kN

Scaffold frame load bearing capacity

For typical opened-leg scaffold frame, the bearing capacity per set = 10 tonnes

Consider the used condition of scaffolding frame, the load bearing capacity shall be
reduced to 50% = 5 tonnes
= 50kN < 12.19kN
OK
Thus, the loading from scaffolding frame is within the capacity of one scaffolding
frame.

Based on plinth area of scaffolding frame, UDL from 1 no scaffolding frame

= 12.19/1.2/1.8 = 5.64kN/m2

1 level of back prop to be provided:

Super-imposed Dead Load (finishes) = 2kN/m2 (partition allowance for superimposed
dead load)
Live Load = 2.5kN/m2

Total UDL load available for scaffolding = 2(2) + 2(2.5) = 9.0kN/m2 < 5.64kN/m2 OK

b.) Falsework for Beam

The proposed scaffolding is to support loads for casting of typical RC beam at 1st floor
to 3rd floor level with most critical size. Scaffolding frame is to be erected at level
below and back props to be provided if necessary.

The proposed temporary support for casting of RC beams using Huatraco scaffolding
frames spaced within allowable working load.

The proposed scaffolding arrangement is as shown in the attached layout .

b.) Dead load

Consider the more critical case, i.e 450 x 600 dimension based on scaffolding spacing at
1m c/c,

Load from fresh concrete = 0.45 x 0.6 x 2400 = 648kg

Joint pin = 1kg/no. x 2 = 2kg

Cross brace = 5kg/no. x 2 = 10kg

Sole plate = 10 kg/no. x 2 = 20kg

GI pipe tie = 5kg/m x 1 = 5kg

2”x4” timber joist at base @450mm c/c = 0.05 x 0.1 x 1000 x 6 x 1.8 = 54kg

12mm thick plywood rest on timber joist = 0.012 x 1.8 x 1.2 x 1000 = 26kg

Total dead load, DL = 765kg

Say DL = 7.65kN
Project: KCS Job No.: Designed By: Date: 03/10/2022

Description: Scaffolding Support (RC Beam) Drwg. Ref.: Checked By: Sheet No.: 5

a.) Live load

Consider the loading due to construction activity = 1.5kN/m2

Live load, LL= 1.5 x 1.2 x 1

=1.8kN

Total working load per scaffolding frame = DL + LL = 7.65 + 1.80

= 9.45kN

Scaffold frame load bearing capacity

For typical opened-leg scaffold frame, the bearing capacity per set = 10 tonnes

Consider the used condition of scaffolding frame, the load bearing capacity shall be
reduced to 50% = 5 tonnes
= 50kN > 9.45kN
OK
Thus, the loading from scaffolding frame is within the capacity of one scaffolding
frame.

Based on plinth area of scaffolding frame, UDL from 1 no scaffolding frame

= 9.45/1.2/1.0 = 7.87kN/m2

1 level of back prop to be provided:

Super-imposed Dead Load (finishes) = 2.0kN/m2 m2 (partition allowance for
superimposed dead load)

Live Load = 2.5kN/m2

Total UDL load available for scaffolding = 2(2.0) + 2(2.5) = 9.0kN/m2 > 7.87kN/m2 OK
