For pilots who carry a passport AND a driving licence both of which are from the list of exempted countries seen in Figure

license from their own country. The fee for the licence is borne by the individual and costs approximately 2110 AED for
the test, 110 AED for the licence, and if a re-test is required it costs approximately 70 AED.
The aforementioned requirements are available only to Emirates pilots, saving significant time and personal expense to
our pilots over the previously required course; this is not the standard process for residents of Dubai.

If pilots do not have a driving licence from their own country or they hold a temporary licence, it is necessary to complete
forty (40) training sessions with a road test and signal test.

For a pilot’s spouse, the requirements above apply for the issuance of the direct exchange of the home licence for the
Dubai licence. However, for those pilot’s spouses who do not qualify for the direct exchange, standard classroom training
of 40 training sessions, practical road driving and signal testing is required. Licences for children or others that a pilot
may sponsor in the UAE are the same for other citizens and require classroom, practical and testing sessions.
