Internship Report

MBC Group Inc., headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, Packaging and Logistic

Solutions Division located in Brookville, Indiana. MBC group offers a comprehensive

outsourcing options for thermoformed plastic packaging, POS/POP materials and Staffing

for Fortune 500 companies and government sectors. I began my internship with the

company on May 16, 2016.

Our Human Resources team is made up of seven different individuals. Each of

which is responsible for different HR practices. My manager, Jeff Roper, has developed

an internship development program that will give me the opportunities to see various

different areas of this business and how it is correlates with the HR.

In the last few weeks of May, I have been learning the very bottom line of what a

typical day looks like in the life of a HR admin. I was introduced to Form I-9’s, our

orientation process and general HR admin tasks. One thing in particular that I have been

learning and understanding is the purpose of FMLA and how it correlates with STD.

FMLA gives employees the opportunity to balance their work and family life by rational

unpaid leave for any certain medical or family issues. The most interesting thing I picked

up was that individuals should most definitely take advantage of FMLA while on STD.

MBC Group uses a specific program called sightline. It’s how the company tracks

material, labor, inventory of paper and plastic and so much more. Learning the way this

program works has been something I struggled with at first. After working with the

program I am finally able to understand it and use it more efficiently.

 The Intern Program that my manger, Jeff Roper, has created allows us interns to

meet once a week. We typically meet on a Fridays, during lunch. The company treats us

to lunch and allows us to causally sit down and talk more in depth about what we have

been working on and learning each week. I have only been interning with MBC Group

for a month, and I feel like I have already gained so much knowledge. I am looking

forward to the next two months and eager to learn so much more about what it takes to be

successful in a career in Logistics.
