1. Can you describe the training program for your employees?

How it happens here is that, since ours is an education institute, we follow a tight
schedule. There have a very strict schedule followed wherein there is no time to breathe
actually, to train the employees. Only time that is available is the vacation times and
semester end period. We prefer may and june where most of the faculties are bit free
and we take those time. We create batches for various departments and various levels.
Depending on that we train them. Recently there was training that happened in the
vacation, We had fun english training and english enhancement training because that is
very much required to communicate and develop english language in students and also
faculty efficiency. Apart from that we also had guest lectures as and when required.

2. What are the employee benefits provided by the institution?

Basic one is PF(Provident Fund), for any staff earning below Rs.15000, this is
mandatory. We are also trying to implement on ESI(Employee State Insurance). In the
near future we are planning to have group health insurance. Apart from that we take
motivational programs. For pongal celebration we are planning to take the faculties
around 700 people for a movie. In December, we took them for a movie, because
people are looking for it.

3. Whom do you think is a successful HR manager from your point of view?

One who is very much popular among the employees, they should feel one among them.
The person is a HR is also getting paid for is work. So making the employees to feel one
among them is successful.

4. How is the feedback process structured in this institution? And how far does it work?

We take feedback through Microsoft forms, anyone who is having the corporate email
ID, they have access to the forms, it is like a survey. Suppose if I am the one who is
creating the questionnaire, I get all the data in Excel sheet format. Then we analyse the
issues and problems and we try to bring solutions for it. That is one of the major ways of
getting feedback. We have kept suggestion boxes around the campus. So any
grievances and suggestions they can drop in those boxes.

5. What is your favourite part in this job? And why?

HR is a big thing, the designation itself carries a lot of respect. When we walk down the
campus, we don't expect that someone should give respect but when we feel that they
are respecting it makes me feel good. This is also one major attraction.

6. What are the challenges you are facing in collaborating the teamwork?
With this one institution we have different departments, each department again we have
small groups within like 3-4 groups for various teams. So managing those teams is a
difficult task unless we go to the ground level. Here managing the admin works takes a
lot of time. I do feel that I should penetrate in those groups to solve issues and problems.
Future plans of team building activities is also there.

One thing to highlight is that we have a team in math department, anywhere and
everywhere we find that team, very young and enthusiastic HOD. They work in all events
irrespective of appraisals, criticism, whether he gets paid or not, he will involve and get
things done voluntarily. That attitude should be there in all the departments. He came to
the stage and declared we have people to discourage us like why you guys have to do
this, because of which even we have to do, but he told we will keep on performing. That
was very motivating. That is what we expect in all departments but it will take some time.

7. How do you develop yourself like updating to the trends, attending workshops?

I always check online for upcoming events for HR. Recently the management sponsored
for an event in Chennai, where me and my MD wife attended it. It was very useful.

8. Do you have any brainstorming sessions to come up with innovative ideas?

It is a small team HR manager and two assistants who had completed BBA just one year
experience, we want someone at par to discuss. But I throw my ideas to the
management to discuss. Engineering has got their accreditation MBA as one of the
achievements.
