2.1 Analyzing Learners


General Characteristics
The participants in this class are grade one students. They are composed of 20 learners in total
to ensure personal attention and adequate understanding with everyone.
Entry Characteristics
The learners should have basic knowledge based on the alphabetical order of letters, identify
vowels and consonant letters, and pronounce each letter based on the examples and
representations. They should be able to master the identification of the different alphabet
letters and apply it to future learnings.
Learning Styles:
This lesson will use methods that appeal to verbal, individual work, as well as small and large
group discussion.

2.2 Objectives
By the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to:
1. Identify the different letters in alphabetical order.
2. Write all the letters alphabetically on a one whole sheet of paper.
3. Utter the right sounds of the different letters.
2.3 Methods, Media, and Materials
Methods
The teacher will begin the lesson with an introduction and overview explaining the alphabetical
order of the letters and its sounds through visual representations and songs. The learners will
then form discussion groups and samples of different letters will be distributed. This will also
help them in comparing the consonant and vowel letters.
Media and Materials
Books, chalks, blackboards, flashcards, illustrations, and a phone and speaker for the playing of
the song as an introduction to the topic will be used for interpretation.

2.4 Utilizing Media and Materials


Preview the Materials
The teacher should have covered and researched the topic before introducing it to the learners.
The teacher must be knowledgeable of the alphabet letters, fluent in pronouncing each letter
and be able to showcase or demonstrate related examples of the topic.
Prepare the Materials
The teacher must ensure to prepare all the materials needed before starting the discussion
such as flashcards, illustrations, books, and all teaching-learning resources.
Prepare the Environment:
The teacher must ensure that the classroom environment has adequate cleanliness and
comfort that totally fits the teaching-learning process. Thus, this includes proper sitting
arrangement, lighting, and appropriate temperature, and students should have access to
needed materials.
Prepare the Learner
The lesson will begin with an introduction to a familiar popular song among the learners related
to the alphabetical order and sounds. There will be an icebreaker and overview of the names
and sounds of each alphabet letter. The books and materials will be distributed by the teacher
to the learners for them to follow along with the teaching.
2.5 Require Learner Participation
Initial activities
After the introduction, icebreaker, and overview of the names and sounds of the alphabet
letters, the teacher will take the learners through systematic steps for understanding. The class
will then participate in manageable discussion groups (5 members each group) meant to allow
the learners to discuss amongst themselves and ask questions related to the topic.

2.6 Evaluate and Revise


The lesson will close with a brief summary from the teacher. The question and answer method
will be used for evaluation and revision. The questions will include:
a. What are the different types of alphabetical orders?
b. What letters from the alphabet are consonant?
c. What letters from the alphabet are vowel?
