WEBINAR SERIES: REFLECTION #4

Contrary to common opinion, the advantages of associating companies with popular

sports have been acknowledged for more than a century, making sports marketing a long-

standing practice. I learned from the webinar that marketing in the sporting world is a terrific

approach to extend a company’s consumer base by focusing on people's passions. Utilizing

sports as a tool is a clever tactic for businesses seeking to broaden their customer base outside

their regular demographic. Sports marketing can take several forms, including broadcasting

advertising during games and sponsoring a team or athlete. This is when I realized that sports

marketing, the activity of firms planning, staging, and promoting sporting events, is everything

but straightforward. In contrast, sports marketing is the advertising of a company's products

during important sporting events. In order to improve brand recognition and sales during high-

traffic events such as the FIFA World Cup, and the Olympics, numerous businesses employ

sports marketing strategies.

During this webinar, I learned some interesting information on how the COVID-19

pandemic changed the sports marketing industry, as I discovered that the unique marketing

methods employed during the pandemic are today quite important. Their impact on sports

marketing is immense, as the media and sponsorship standards they established are still in use

today. The increased diversity of available content is an excellent illustration of how the modern

sports media's appetite for innovation has helped its audience. As an alternative to conventional

television, an increasing number of people are using the video-streaming network Twitch.

Instead of perceiving this growth of distribution channels as a problem, sports marketers and

other brands seeking to expand their audience should consider it as an opportunity.

Overall, the sports sector is worth billions of dollars, largely due to things like advertising

and merchandise. In recent decades, sports have been increasingly influential in many areas,

including the physical, economic, social, and cultural spheres. Sports marketing's meteoric

ascent in prominence has coincided with digital marketing's meteoric ascent in prominence. This

has consequently had repercussions throughout the economy. In fact, Sport marketing helps

expand a company's customer base and revenue. Sports fans are more likely to buy anything

that feature their favorite teams or athletes as spokespeople. It causes a dramatic increase in

revenue and profits, acting as a powerful spur to expansion. Furthermore, it raises the general

quality of life. Professional athletes' lives can be drastically improved by the sponsorship deals

they secure through sports marketing. While some sportsmen come from less fortunate origins,

they can improve their standard of living thanks to the contracts they sign after years of hard

work.
