finite number of solutions and the mth solution is referred to as LPlm mode of the step index
fiber. Assume n1 = 1.47, n2 = 1.46 and wavelength of 1550 nm. Find the solutions of b which
corresponds to possible modes of the step index fiber for the given V values
(a) V = 2
Ans: b = 0.416, Range: 0.35 to 0.45

Solution: For V = 2, only LP01 (b = 0.416) is supported

relation.
