Asynchronous: Critique of community’s response towards

Covid 19 pandemic:

1. What can you say with current situation and management of Covid 19 in
your respective City or Municipality?

I was furious at first because the first positive case involved political connections. Because of
this, one of the political attendants escaped, using his political power to influence the quarantine
facility and roam around our municipality. This causes outrage among those he encounters, and an
intensive investigation of contact tracing is conducted; as a result of this negligence, the number of
cases is increasing. But today I was reassured by seeing how our local health department manages
the vaccine distribution and use of social media through consistent updates of COVID cases around
the area and promoting health education regarding COVID-19. Despite the lack of support from our
local government, I can see that our solely RHU is doing well utilizing their given resources, which I
think is very limited, and they find ways to find donors who are willing to distribute for the betterment
of implementation of health promotion, disease awareness and control.

2. If given a chance, how would you improve the Covid 19 response of your
City/Municipality ?

Since this pandemic has gravely affected us and turned our lives upside down, this will give
us the opportunity to improve our disease control and prevention to avoid or diminish these
catastrophic events again. I will focus on strict border control, early implementation of lockdowns,
establishment of quarantine facilities, effective communication to the public, and monitoring efforts
as the defining factors that helped these LGUs curtail the harm that was brought by the pandemic. If
these policies were to be standardized, it would help not only our municipality but all of the country’s
preparedness for future health emergencies. Multi-sector collaboration between a country’s public
health departments and diverse community partners is increasingly recognized as important for
promoting positive public health outcomes, addressing social determinants of health, and reducing
health inequalities. The COVID-19 pandemic painfully shows the reasons why nations are better off
when they cooperate and collaborate in health, and also reveals the hazards of their incomplete
commitment to doing so. Uphold fairness, participation, and accountability to anchor in resolving
global collective action challenges like COVID-19 and also climate change and non-communicable
diseasesrment of implementation of health promotion, disease awareness, and control.
