A mixed number is a whole number, and a
proper fraction represented together.
 Look at the given image, it represents a
fraction that is greater than 1 but less than 2.
It is thus, a mixed number.
Divide the numerator by the denominator.

Write down the quotient as the whole number.

Write down the remainder as the numerator

and the divisor as the denominator.
 Step 1:
Divide 7 by 3
 Step 2:
Write quotient, divisor and remainder in form as in
step 2 and step 3 mentioned.


4 3/4 + 2 3/4

Change the mixed fractions into improper fractions. 4 3/4 = 19/4

2 3/4 = 11/4

Keep the denominator 19/4 + 11/4

Add the numerators 19/4 + 11/4 = 31/4

If the answer is an improper form, convert it 31/4 = 7 3/4

into mixed fraction.

Change the mixed fractions into improper fractions. 1 2/6 = 8/6

1 4/8 = 12/8

Find the LCM between the denominators LCM = 24

Multiply both denominators and numerators of 8/6 X 4 = 32/24

both fractions with a number such that they 12/8 X 3 = 36/24
have the LCM as their new denominator.

32/24 + 36/24 =
Add them and convert to mixed fraction. If not, 68/24 = 17/6

just simplify the result.

Change the mixed fractions into improper fractions. 3 3/4 = 15/4

Keep the denominator 21/4 - 15/4

Change the mixed fractions into improper fractions. 2 1/6 = 13/6

1 1/5 = 6/5
Multiply by the reciproral of the divisor. So 6/5

will become 5/6. Then switch to multiplication. 13/6 ÷ 6/5

Multiply the numerators and multiply the 13/6 X 5/6

denominators. = 65/36

Convert the fraction into the simplest form or 65/36

into mixed one. = 1 29/36
