Human rights and having equal rights in the Philippines

is still yet to be achieved. In the discussion earlier, the
speaker expounded on the Anti-Bastos Law which protects
sexual assault victims and she also talked about topics on
the terms concerning the LGBTQ+ community. More on the
Anti-Bastos Law, it allows victims to le charges even if the
assault happened outside the workplace. This is a step
towards protecting women, most especially, from being
sexually assaulted. I really found it powerful when the
speaker said that until there is a victim of sexual assault,
change is yet to happen.

Even the president in the Philippines has sexually

assaulted women in public and on live television, I hope
that the victims le charges on him when he steps down as
the president because seeing someone in power assault
women blatantly, encourages other abusers to do the same
to the women around them. I hope that more laws will be
legislated and well-disseminated to protect minorities in the
Philippines especially women, children, and the LGBTQ+
community.
