8 OBJECTIVES: This course is expected to provide extensive language and research skills
related to research and thesis writing suitable as the penultimate English
language course students must sit for.

9 LEARNING 1. CLO1: Exemplify bibliographic information taken from various reading


OUTCOMES: sources by producing correct bibliography list. (LO1, C2)
2. CLO2: Students should be able to adhere to specific research writing style
by completing a research paper/essay (LO7, A4)
3. CLO3: Present a summary based on the research paper produced. (LO5,
A2)

10 COURSE SYNOPSIS: This course exposes the essential elements of academic research writing.
Students are taught about the basics of academic research writing beginning
from the basics up to producing a full academic essay. A revision of writing
skills related to academic research writing is also included. In addition,
students are also taught proper presentation skills, thus preparing them for
their academic writing in the final years of their tertiary education. Blended
mode as well as naqli and aqli elements are embedded throughout the tasks
and assessments. In relation to CEFR levels, this course corresponds to C1
(advanced) level.
