How to overcome?
1) add lime to the lakes and the surrounding land to decrease the
acidity
2) prevent the acidic gases from being released
a) fitting scrubbers to power station furnaces
b) removing sulfur from gasoline
3) catalytic converters (the change carbon monoxide into carbon
dioxide and nitrogen dioxide into nitrogen.However if there is
lead in the petrol used ,the catalyst becomes poisoned and will no
longer work.
