Final assignment for the practical activity

The aim of this assignment is to design an extraction procedure of compounds with biological
activity, applying the knowledge acquired at the course and at the practical classes.

Step 1. Select the title of your assignment from the table below

Step 2. Search scientific papers that can offer you information regarding:
- extraction methods
- extraction solvents and their concentration
- the ratio between plant material and extraction solvent
- extraction parameters (time, temperature, agitation)

Step 3. Compare the results from the selected scientific papers

Step 4. Formulate a conclusion selecting the best extraction method, extraction solvent and
extraction parameters.

Step 5. Make a PowerPoint Presentation () with the following structure:

Slide 1. Title and name of the master student


Slide 2. Biochemical compounds to be extracted – general structure, properties and
importance; Plant material – mention the part of the plant to be used for extraction
Slide 3. Extraction methods (at least 2); Extraction solvents (at least 2); Extraction
parameters
Slide 4 and 5. Results comparison (tables or histograms)
Slide 6. Conclusions
Slide 7. References used for realising this assignment

Step 7. Up-load your PowerPoint Presentation on the eLearning platform at week 11-17 January, till
20th of January
