 Narrative Writing

What is Narrative Writing?

Narrative writing is, essentially, story writing. A narrative can be fiction or
nonfiction, and it can also occupy the space between these as a semi-
autobiographical story, historical fiction, or a dramatized retelling of actual
events.
Example:
Some of the popular examples of narrative writing include:
 Essays
 Fairy tales
 Autobiographies &
 News stories.

Our Story on which we worked:

 Main Idea of the story:
The main idea of our story was to “Animal Rights ”. To protect animals who are getting
treated badly.

STORY (Narration):

Jessica and her friends, Zoya and Tat’heer, were sitting together and talking with each other
while the granny, who is cruel with animals, was sitting on bedframe besides her grandchild,
Jessica, and her friends.
A cat came to granny looking for some milk or something to eat or drink as she was hungry,
but the granny was not a lover of animals and always hated it whenever any cat or any other
animal came to her house and disturbed her. The granny shooed the cat.
Granny, “This cat has made my life hell.”
But the cat was still there hoping she will get something, but the granny got angry this time
and hit her with the ball. One of the friends from the group, Zoya, did not like this action of
granny and went to her to ask why she hit the cat like that,
Zoya: “Granny why did you hit the cat? They are very innocent.” She said this because the
cats are very innocent creatures. The granny was giving some lame excuses to the friend,
Zoya.
“Oh child! This cat has made my life difficult; she drinks all the milk, and its hair are spread
throughout the house which leaves no place for prayers.” Said granny.
Tat’heer: “Granny, don’t you know that you can also be cursed by animals.”
Granny: “Oh child! They cannot even speak. Then how will they curse?”

Anyhow, Zoya stood up and went to the cat and gave her some milk and patted the cat. Zoya
asked Jessica why her granny treats the animal so bad.
Zoya: “Jessica, why don’t you tell your granny that she should not hit a cat like this there is
so much awareness about the animal rights.” But Jessica was embarrassed and speechless.
Jessica: “I have told my granny several times, but she never listens.”

Jessica showed the video of a donkey, who got brutally hurt by a woman who threw acid on
the donkey.
Jessica: “Guys, look at this video, how brutally someone attacked the donkey. They threw
acid at donkey, and he got burned badly.”
All the friends decided to show the video to granny.
Zoya: “We should show this video to granny.” Their purpose was to show the video to
granny, so she knows how much injustice the animals are getting in this country and how
badly they are getting treated.
Jessica: “Granny, do you know what happened today?”
Granny: “What happened?”
Jessica: “We saw a video where a woman threw acid on a donkey.”
Zoya: “He got burned badly.”
Tat’heer: “He must be in very pain.” All of them nodding and making granny to feel bad
because what she did earlier was not a good behavior.

The granny watched the video.

News caster: “Assalam-u-alaikum everyone, I am Abiha Naqvi. Today’s breaking news and
the saddest, is that a woman who wanted to take a revenge from a man due to personal
grudges threw acid on a donkey owned by a man and made him a target. So, let’s talk to the
donkey and listen to his story.”
Blossom (donkey): “Do you know how much cruelty is done to us speechless animals in
Pakistan? How much burden these people put on us, they don’t even think about what is
happening to us, how much pain it is. Just a few days ago a woman threw acid on me, I wish
we speechless creatures get rights in Pakistan.” She was stunned as she watched the video
because the donkey was in a very bad condition, burned and bleeding.
The granny was then feeling bad for treating the animals bad and she decided to be good
towards them.
Granny: “How wrong I was. I abused the harmless animal. Oh, Allah Almighty! Please
forgive me for treating the animals so bad, Ameen. I will be better with them onwards.”
Moral of the story:
The moral that we get from this short story is that we should always treat the speechless
animals right. They are living things like us Afterall. And they deserve to be treated good
they also feel sad and hurt when we, humans, don’t show good behavior to them. We should
always make little efforts for the animals like to give them milk or give them to eat
something. Animals have rights too and we all should be beware of it.
