of the chain, the back strand only. (not the loop from the
hook, not the first stitch, the next one.).

chain and through the loop from the hook)

Row 1:
Continue in 2 steps working 1 SS in each chain like this:
Insert hook into the first stitch. (into back loop only), first
stitch, after you turn, int’s on the base of the chain, near on the
leg.
YO, grab the yarn, pull through & through.

End Row 1 After you SS the last stitch,

and if you want Turn and Chain 1. (this is the turning chain).
Row 2: Repeat section Row 1. (not the beginning, just Row 1)
Single Crochet – SC

Begin Row 1: Insert hook into the second chain, can be done through only
one strand of the chain - the back strand only. (not the loop
from the hook, not the first stitch, the next one.) or two strands
of the chain.
YO, pull through (through the chain). Are 2 on the hook.
YO, pull through 2.

Row 1:
Continue in 3 steps working 1 SC in each chain like this:
Insert hook into the first stitch.
YO, pull through, are 2 on the hook,
YO, pull through 2.

End Row 1 After you SC the last stitch,

and if you want Turn and Chain 1. (this is the turning chain).
Row 2: work the first SC into second stitch of the row (not the
turning chain, the row).

Half Double Crochet – HDC

Begin Row 1: You already have one loop on the hook from the chain.

Insert the hook into the third chain.
YO. pull through (through the chain). Are 3 on the hook.
Grab the yarn, pull through all 3 loops.

Continue working 1 HDC in each chain, like this:

Continue working 1 DC in each chain, like this:

End Row 1 After you DC the last stitch,

and if you want Turn and Chain 3. (this is the turning chain).
Row 2: Work the first DC into second stitch of the row (not the
turning chain, the row).

Repeat section Row 1. (not the beginning, just Row 1)

Turn: Turn your crochet to position the yarn at the right edge of
the crocheted piece, you are ready to begin the second row.
