    Bloom's Taxonomy is a classification of learning objectives within education which divides educational goals into levels of complexity and specificity. The original taxonomy identified three domains of learning - cognitive, affective and sensory. The cognitive domain was later updated and broken into six levels moving from basic recall or recognition of facts through increasingly more complex and abstract mental levels of understanding, application, analysis, synthesis and evaluation. The taxonomy provides a structure for teachers to design learning objectives, assessments and activities that promote higher-order thinking skills.
