Checklist for Consecutive
Interpretation
1. Make sure you have the agenda
2. Write down the title of the event in both languages

3. Write down the name of the organizing entity in both

4. Read the names of the speakers to know how to pronounce

them
5. Ask the organizer about the terms you are not sure about
6. Prepare A4 papers, with 2 lines splitting the writing space in

3 equal parts
7. Prepare the day before and also, on the day of the event
Simultaneous Interpretation
Characteristics
We need fast reactions
We need to multitask: to Listen and Speak at the same time
We have to speak continuously, without interruptions
We need to stay focused at ALL times but also be prepared if our
attention wanders off
Preparation is different: We have to read more generally about
the subject
Checklist for Simultaneous
Interpretation
1. Make sure you have the agenda exactly and that there are
breaks at least every 90 minutes

2. Have the agenda, participant list and all the information

open on your laptop or have them
printed in front of you
3. Preferably have a laptop with you with your favorite
dictionaries and google search tab open
4. Read the names of the speakers in advance to know how to
pronounce them
5. Ask the organizer about the terms you are not sure about
6. Prepare the day before and also, on the day of the event
