Characteristics of a scientific research

One of the main characteristics of a scientific research is that it frequently has a

theoretical foundation because a theory is either established or tested. In the case
study an earlier research was carried out by Stanford’s Bloom which concluded that
workers feel less productive when working from home. However the new scientific
research that was carried out by WFH Research team to test the earlier theory of
Bloom discovered that the new research underscored the earlier report as it reported
that workers don’t feel any less productive when working from home. This seeks to
show that scientific research is often based on developing a theory as shown by
Stanford’s Bloom or testing a theory as shown by the WFH Research team

Since a genuine researcher is frequently modest and willing to confess he or she is

mistaken, it is an endeavour with little ego involvement. Genuine researcher are
always open to construction criticism and peer review as no one has the final answer
or solution to a study that he or she would have carried out. Every research is opens
a platform for further research and if a true researcher is wrong he will genuinely
admit that. Egos are always put aside in scientific research. True researchers always
welcome new information discovered from other researchers to correct their earlier
research or to argue against or to present different results as evidenced by the same
research done by WFH Research team and Nicholas Bloom. But the two participants
responded different to both researches.

Maximize your objectivity. To prevent bias and get the truth, researchers must do
their research "objectively." To acquire an accurate explanation of how the world
operates, objectivity is required. Ideas that demonstrate objectivity are supported by
facts and free of prejudice, which is essentially personal opinion. Even hypotheses,
or theories about how something could work, are expressed objectively in science.
To avoid subjectivity on the outcome of worker and their preference on working from
home, the studies carried in different countries from different higher-income
employees with different backgrounds, values and beliefs and the researchers only
provided data that they got from their research not used their own preconceptions.

Standard rules relating to data analysis are applied. The research will be genuine
and error-free if established procedures for data analysis are followed. This will also
help the researcher build credibility and public support. When the researcher
presents their findings in their publication, they must also abide by standard rules of
data analysis. The research carried out by international team of economists and the
WFH Research Team was based on higher-income employees. This was done so
that the same data gathering guidelines are followed so as to compare the results.

Data, not preconceptions, beliefs, attitudes, or prejudices, are used to draw

conclusions. In scientific research beliefs, values and preconceptions are not
regarded as conclusive, only data is. The reason being beliefs, values and
preconceptions are subjective and scientific research is completely objective and
serves as an objective account of the real structure of the world. The case study
shows graphs from data that was gathered from different countries to produce a true
representation of the real world structure. People from different countries have
different values but the data produced has got nothing to do with their values and
beliefs.

Replication, or the idea that another researcher will do the same study they did in
order to confirm their findings, is welcomed by researchers. One of the most
important ways researchers increase their trust in the validity of their findings is
through replication. When the outcome of one study is confirmed by another, it is
more likely to reflect a trustworthy assertion of novel information. In the case study
Stanford’s Bloom did a study which was also replicated by the WFH Research team,
in that way the validity of the study is tested.

Strict adherence to accepted data gathering guidelines is maintained. Respecting the

dignity, rights, and wellbeing of study participants requires adherence to ethical
norms. In order to ensure that the proper ethical standards are being observed, an
ethics committee should examine all study involving human subjects.
