    Electromagnetic waves with shorter wavelengths like radar systems for aircraft navigation. Longer wavelengths are used to kill germs in water purification. Even longer wavelengths improve visibility on runways during foggy conditions. These wavelengths belong to different parts of the electromagnetic spectrum and can be arranged from shortest to longest. Sound waves are more easily deflected than light waves because sound waves are longitudinal waves which can be compressed and expanded easier than electromagnetic transverse light waves. The graph of incident stopping potential versus radiation frequency for two photosensitive materials will produce two lines with different slopes and intercepts depending on the work functions. The material with the higher work function will have a greater slope and intercept on the graph.
