Renee Cohen With only 2 weeks left of camp, Camp Ora has been loads of fun. This week being the 9 days, it's been very chilled but that didnt stop the camp from having a great time. With all the fun activities throughout camp, the energy was amazing. The Lower Division enjoyed going bowling and then got treated to ice cream, had gender wars, dress up day, GJ1 went to the pizza store, and they had a magic and vantriliquest show!! The Senior Division went ice skating and arcades and had a great time ice skating with Heshy! To top it all off, yesterday we had gender wars when the girls ripped it up and won!! Congratulations to all the girls!! But the fun didn't end there when the 1-8th grade divisions had dress up day today and each group dressed up with a different theme. The creativity and excitement was amazing and every group did an amazing job! Can't wait for the trips and fun activities to come next week!!

When the list of things I did this week include standing on stage with 7 parrots on my head, ice skate in a locamotion with Heshy and about 20 campers, get smeared with icing after gingerbread wars, dressing as a farmer girl, and ride on Morriss motorcycle, then you know the summer is really in full gear. Aware that during the 9 days we had to lay low, the staff at CAMP ORA worked overtime to make in camp days as exciting as can be. A magic show, sushi, baseball leagues, zumba, baking and lamp making kicked off our week. With Gender wars (boys vs. girls) and group dress-alike-day capping it off. Gender wars was by far the wackiest day of all with games such as string hunt, scavenger hunt, newspaper races, limbo, gingerbread wars, family feud, and a huge capture the flag game. Im appreciating every single day left of camp because I know the end of the summer is near, and I cannot think of anywhere Id rather be than with my amazing new family at CAMP ORA! Shabbat Shalom everyone! Kelly

Tuesday, August 9th 2011 there will be no

camp, due to the fast.

Thursday August 11th p.m.

As we all know next week Tuesday, August 9th is Tisha'h Be'av, the saddest day of the year. It is the day that both the 1st and 2nd Temples were destroyed. It is also the day that the Meraglim (spies) spoke badly about the Land of Israel in front of the Jewish Nation, causing us to spend 40 years wandering the desert. For most of us it is very difficult to relate to the burning of the Temple, to feel any real sadness over our loss. In order to feel the pain of the destruction of the Temple

Words of Wisdom By: Morris Dweck

we have to relate to it, it has to mean something real to us. The easiest way to do so is to borrow a line from the Haggadah. During the Dayenu we read If He had given us the Torah, and had not brought us into the land of Israel, it would have sufficed. We see from this verse that the most important thing to the Jews is the Torah. We would still be Jews without the land of Israel; just like we are Jews today even though we dont live in Israel. Although we are in exile living in America we still live under the system of the Torah. So what makes the Land of Israel so special? We take the time in the Dayenu to thank G-d for every kindness he bestowed upon us, including giving us Israel, but what are we thanking him for? One answer is culture and I know we can all indentify with American Culture. Everywhere we turn we see advertisements, celebrities, money and materialism. We can easily get caught up in American culture and forget about what is important in life. But imagine a culture where the celebrities were people who deserved to be admired because of their wisdom. A culture that always reminds us of the importance of good friends and family, education, respecting,

and helping others. This is the culture we are lacking because of our exile, a culture that breeds the pursuit of the perfection

O-FILES 2

of the soul, a pursuit of a life in line with reality. A culture where the goal of society is to establish a system of Torah. Living in Israel with the Temple would have given us independence and the chance to make a society that breeds Judaism. This is something that I hope you can indentify with, something that might help you shed a tear as we mourn the destruction of our culture, of our temple, of our way of life. GM2 Millie Marcus, Betty Cohen Wow sick week. (Not because its shark week) but because of the great energy we all have in this camp. Our group of amazing girls did it all. From dance, to decorating lamp shades, to playing taps, ice skating, and gender wars. We can't wait for the Yankee game and Dorney park back to back next week! P.S. Linda Gindi was a great addition to our group P.S.S. We should have sushi again Group GN Mariel Dweck and Renee Cohen This week in Camp Ora was packed with fun!! GN had a blast ice skating together. We were slipping and sliding at first, but then we really got going! Gender War

was one of our favorite events yet. We loved designing newspaper outfits. Pennie Shweky modeled as a mermaid and Claudette Robinson as a baby! In the scavenger hunt, we worked as one to find all the items all around the camp. Our team work paid off because GN came in first place!! When we sang the girls' team song, we were by far the loudest group. Everyone was watching as we sang and danced with all our energy. To continue acting together as a team, we dressed up as a family on Friday. This was such a fun week; I can't wait for next!! :)

A Message from Division Head, Sarah Shabot:

This week in CAMP ORA, the Junior Division was busy busy busy busy! Everyday we had a special event, or top. On Monday, we all watched a Magic Show. The magician was amazing and he brought 5 birds that we all got to hold and play with. Tuesday, we went bowling and after luch we got delicious ice cream as desert! Wednesday, our First Grade girls from GJ1 were so lucky and went to the pizza store for lunch. Thursday was a very big day in CAMP ORA- we had Gender Wars.

O-FILES 3

We had great activities like a string hunt, limbo, team song, team dance- all boys vs. girls. Congratulations to the girls for winning! Today, every group dressed up in a different theme. We had hats, pajamas, princesses, sports players and bandanas- everybody looked great! The division heads even dressed up as farmers and danced to Cotton Eye Joe as the children got off the bus. Looking forward to a great trip next week to Point Pleasant. Have a great weekend. Shabbat Shalom, Sarah Shabot

and Lorraine, and a special shoutout to Joanie: You always keep me smiling with your adorable comments and even cuter dancing! Love you, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Boys General for Gender wars Albert Katz We had another amazing week at Camp Ora! Gender wars was full of intensity. The day started off with capture the flag which the boys clearly dominated. After, there was a newspaper fashion show. Somehow Era Azizo and the other male models could not pull out a victory. Later the boys staff performed a remarkable dance and all the boys in camp sang a revised version of Barbie Girls. All the guys had a great day and we can wait for next week!

Girls General and GK1 Counselor CAROLL DWECK This past week we had Boys vs. Girls/Gender Wars- and it was SICK! Obviously the girls won 'cause, well, we're awesome. We did so many fun activities such as a string hunt, gingerbread house, decorating contest, scavenger hunt, minute to win it, and relay races and we pretty much won every event- shocker! Okay fine, the boys had a funny dance I'll give you that, but in the end we learned a very important life lesson this week. "Girls rule and boys drool!" I would also like to give a shout out to my amazing campers from GK1! No matter what we're doing whether it's belts, dodgeball, gaga, gameroom, dance, art, baking, or basketball I always have an amazing time with you girls. Thank you for making this summer one of the best I've had. Shoutout to my awesome Co's- Eva

A Message from Division Head, Morris Dweck and Danny Zardouk:

This week at CAMP ORA was amazing but even more so for TNT. We started off the week by driving to Cherry Hill where we went Rock Climbing with Morris, and went to Cherry Hill Mall to do a scavenger hunt with Danny. Congrats to the boys that got all the answers to the scavenger hunt and got to go to igloo with Morris. On Tuesday we got to spend the day in camp where girls went to

O-FILES 4

make leather bracelets in art. We also danced with Joyce Franco and had an intense half court knockout tournament. The boys had split up into groups and had leagues. No matter how hot it is outside, nothing stops our TNT guys! On Wednesday we had our first trip with the Senior Division and went ice skating and arcades. We got a nice kick watching Heshy swing that bat in one of their batting cages and go ice skating. On Thursday, back in camp, we had an exciting day participating a bit in gender wars, playing sports and going to gymnastics. Next week is going to be even more fun-packed where we will be going on our camping overnight. Dont forget your sleeping bags and warm PJs! Have a restful Shabbat and cant wait to see you all on Monday.

Shabbat Shalom, Morris and Danny Wednesday: Mountain Creek Overnight Thursday: White Water Rafting Friday: Hip Hop rollerskating
