What is Cooperatives
Cooperatives are people-centred
enterprises owned, controlled and run by
and for their members to realise their
common economic, social, and cultural
needs and aspirations. Whether the
members are the customers, employees,
users or residents, cooperatives are
democratically managed by the 'one
member, one vote' rule. -International
Cooperative Alliance.
Cooperatives
A cooperative is a free and duly registered
association of persons. They are formed
due to the common interest of members
who have voluntarily joined to achieve their
needs and aspirations by contributing to
the capital required, patronizing their
products, and accepting the risk and
benefits of the cooperative. It is governed
by the Cooperative Development Authority
(CDA).

Cooperatives in Mindanao (FARMCOOP) is a
grassroots not-for-profit organization. We
organize and provide services to small
family farmers’ cooperatives. Our vision is to
build resilient communities through
sustainable agri-based enterprise and
cooperative effort.

Cooperatives
Since 1995, we have served over 6,000 farmers in
more than 20 cooperatives and associations of
agrarian reform beneficiaries, small-scale farmers,
and indigenous peoples. We believe that farmers’
cooperatives have a special role in society as
effective vehicles in empowering their
communities towards holistic development.
Through FARMCOOP’s core services, farmers’
cooperatives can realize their collective goals and
aspirations through cooperativism. Learn more.
