Sampling in Quantitative and Qualitative Research

Students are provided with materials to read on types of sampling in each of the research
approaches. In class, we discuss and explain some of the commonly used sampling
techniques in educational research.

Probability sampling: most common in quantitative research (objectivity,


representativeness, generalizability, randomization...)

Students explain and elaborate on the sub types after reading and discussing in class
