Organizational set up of Security Branch of SBP Division: - See Rule 15 of RPF Rule 1987.
For operational purposes, Security Brach of SBP Division consists 5 static Posts, 3
out Posts and 2 companies. The names of post and companies are furnished below:-

ii. To do any other act conducive to better protection and security of Rly property,
Item No.2. Powers and duties of officers and employees of the organization:-
i. Promptly to execute all orders lawfully issued to him by his superior authority.
ii. To protect and safeguard railway property, passenger area and passengers;
iii To remove any obstruction in the movement of railway property or passenger area ;and
iv. to do any other act conducive to the better protection and security of railway property,
passenger area and passengers.
Powers and responsibilities of the Divisional Security Commissioner/RPF:- See Rule 39 of RPF
Rule 1987.
39.1 DSC/RPF shall be directly responsible to the CSC/RPF concerned for better
protection, security and smooth movement of Railway property as well as for
the efficient administration of the force in his jurisdiction and shall deal with
all establishment matters concerning the enrolled member of the force placed
under his control.
39.2 He shall exercise such powers in respect of establishment and other matters as
are given in schedule II to IV and under the extant Railway Rules.
39.3 DSC/RPF shall devise ways and means for providing better protection and
security to railway property in his division and matters connected therewith and
shall carry out such directions and may be given to him on the subject by the
CSC/RPF or any other Superior Officer of the Force.
39.4 He shall keep in close touch with the post commanders, Company
commanders and superior officers for ensuring effective co-ordination and
direct their activities for providing better protection and security to Railway
Property.
39.5 He shall inspect work of posts, out posts and work of ASC in his jurisdiction
and take such action as may ile within his competence or issue such directions
as considered necessary to remedy existing defects or to streamline the
working.
39.6 His other functions shall includes:-
a. attending parade, kit inspections and holding monthly meetings
with superior officers, post commanders and company
commanders of his division to review the crime situation.
b. ensuring effective and result oriented deployment of force
placed under his command.
c. studying all basic security arrangements against thefts,
pilferages and other crimes against railway property and
suggesting such improvements to the authorities concerned as
may be called for.
d. ensuring correct account of crime, through and prompt
enquiries for recovery of stolen railway property and
prosecution of offenders and receivers.
e. liaison with his counterparts in the police including railway
police, civil administration and other railway departments for
taking effective measures for better protection and security of
railway property and matters connected therewith.
f. keeping a watch over claims preferred and paid on account of
theft, pilferage, losses and shortage of book consignment and
taking preventive measures in co-operation with his
counterparts in the Claims Preventions Office to arrest the
upward trend in incidents leading to such claims notices
anywhere in his jurisdiction.
g. submitting to his superior officers such reports and returns as
may be called for including reports on his subversive and other
objectionable activities affecting the security and functioning of
the railway notices anywhere in his divisions; and
h. ensuring full compliance by all concerned under his command
of all direction and instructions issued by the DG/RPF or the
CSC/RPF concerned under the Act and these rules.
Powers and responsibilities of other superior and subordinate officers of the Division: see rule 40 of
RPF Rule 1987.
The powers and responsibilities of other superior and subordinate officers posted to assist
the Divisional Security Commissioners shall be such as may be specified in the Directives.
General Powers and functions of enrolled members of the Force:- see Rule 41 of RPF Rule 1987.
41.1 The primary functions of enrolled members of the Force shall be:-
i. To protect and safeguard railway property, and to combat crime against it.
ii. To do any other act conducive to better protection and security of Rly property,

Item No.5. The rules, regulations, instructions, manuals and records, held by it or under its
control or used by its employees for discharging its functions;-
It is strictly followed as per RPF Rules 1987 and standing Orders issued by
DG/RPF/NDLS from time to time. But, it is exemption from disclosure of information
to any citizen as per section 8. (g) & (h) of Right to Information Act. 2005.

Documents & records are being maintained as per directives. But, it is exemption from

No such bodies has been formed at Divisional Head quarter of security Branch.
