1. RAJA RAMMOHAN ROY:

Original Jurisdiction of the High Court


1. It has Original Jurisdiction over cases related to land-revenue.
2. Regarding Election petitions challenging the election of the member of
the Parliament.
3. To issue Writs for the enforcement of the Fundamental Rights.
4. The cases like: wills, divorce, marriage, Admiralty, Company law and
Contempt of Court can be taken at first instance.

Appellate Jurisdiction of the High Court


1. Appeals in civil cases which are decided by the Subordinate Court.
2. Appeals in criminal cases in which Sessions Judge has given four years
of imprisonment.
3. The death sentence awarded by Sessions Judge is subject to approval
by the High Court.
