B. What is the importance of RRL in one's research paper?

A literature review is a comprehensive summary of previous research on a topic. The literature

review surveys scholarly articles, books, and other sources relevant to a particular area of
research. The review should enumerate, describe, summarize, objectively evaluate and clarify
this previous research. An RRL reviews as much of the literature possible around a particular
research problem. This literature can include various article types, including theoretical
articles, reviews, protocol papers, opinions, and policy statements.

A review of related literature is important in one’s research paper because it is meant to set
your research in the context of what is currently known about the topic and to establish that
what you have to offer is novel, something different from what has been already attempted. A
review of related literature (RRL) is important for obtaining an overview of the current
knowledge on the topic. It provides the researcher with a framework on which to build an
appropriate hypothesis.
