Output #: 2 Human brain versus computer The human brain is one of the most important organs within our body since it enables us to think, process, and store information for future use. It is the reason why our species has evolved throughout the years by utilizing the brain in terms of critical thinking, problem- solving, abstract conceptualizations, and experimenting on certain things thus leading to convenient human discoveries such as the wheel, the light bulb, and the computer. One of the aforementioned, which is the computer also acts as a brain since it also thinks, process, and store information for future use. Due to this, the human brain and the computer has been popularly debated within this generation to determine which of the two objects proved to be superior to the other. Although it’s still a topic that is yet to be concluded, the human brain still acts as the most convenient tool for humankind to develop, innovate, and foster out ideas and solutions to certain problems. One of the similarities between the human brain and the computer is they both transmit information. A computer employs switches that can be turned on or off. In a sense, neurons in the brain are turned on or off by either firing or not firing an action potential. Neurons, however, are more than just on or off because their "excitability" is constantly changing. This is due to the fact that a neuron is constantly receiving information from other cells via synaptic contacts. The passage of information across a synapse does not always result in an action potential. Rather, this information alters the likelihood of an action potential being produced by raising or lowering the neuron's threshold. Both also use electrical signals to send messages. The brain transmits information using chemicals, whereas computers use electricity. Electrical signals travel at high speeds in the nervous system, but they travel even faster through computer wires. Leading the computer to be superior in terms of processing information quickly due to the speed of electrical signals through computer wires. Another similarity between the human brain and the computer is that both cannot function without energy. The brain requires nutrients such as oxygen and sugar to function, whereas the computer requires electricity to function. Due to this, the brain is portable and readily available since the resources or nutrients to fuel the energy required for the brain is almost universally available within any environment. However, the computer is highly dependent on an environment where the presence of electricity is available such as cities or homes with electrical sockets making it less available or inconvenient within environments that lacks accessibility of resources producing electricity. In conclusion, the brain serves to be mostly convenient in some areas of expertise when it comes to anatomical structure and environmental adaptability. However, the computer also functions superior to the brain when it comes to the speed of electrical signals and processing information. Due to this results, further analysis is recommended in order to obtain better significant outcomes to determine which is a more appropriate and convenient tool for generating ideas and problem-solving capabilities.
