Hi Optimists, Im back ! From down Mexico way. June 30, 2011 will now, forever be part of your club history. For on this date two Community & KID loving clubs joined to become one. I think this MERGER will make us bigger, better and stronger in our endeavor to help our Community & local KIDs. These two clubs have worked harmoniously side-by-side for over 20 years. In many ways both clubs had reached their pinnacle, not able to do any more or do it better, but this alliance has the potential to reach more KIDs and make our community, as well as our club ever stronger. Thanks for all you do. Keep-Up the Wonderful Work The clubs Tea, July 23, (2 to 4 PM), was a great success (around $1000.00) and a whole lot of fun, too. If you were not there, you missed out on the best food in Alabama and a whole lot of FUN & Fellowship. Please Thank & Congratulate Ruth H., Peggy P., Margaret S., Marion S., Liz W., Mary C., Marcia L., Kathy W., Lee H., Rod H., Cliff C., Larry W., Ken S., Sally Mc., Willie E. and their families & friends, for a job Very Well Done Then, mark your calendars, only two events left this year. September 5th The Mullet Festival PLEASE HELP. Volunteer NOW! And our Annual Club Picnic September 24th will finish the year. (Continued on page 2)
It sure was great finding out so many of you read the Grit & Bits. But, In case you are one that misunderstood my point in my June prez-sez article, it wasnt about FINES You the member, via the board, under the Bylaws make those kinds of Rules I can NOT. I tried to using an analogy, because recently several members have complained about people not showing up for kitchen duty and making noise during the program. The point I was attempting to make was COURTESY. Being courteous enough to show-up and do YOUR part in the kitchen and courteous enough to be as quiet as possible during programs. Enough for now, I still have & hear Margarita-Ville calling me Thanks again, for All YOU Do. GOD BLESS
Optimistically, bill c

Scott Wallace talked about Hurricane Safety. To find out what you can do to prepare for the storms, go to www.baldwincountyal.gov. The site will tell you where the shelters are and the supplies you should have to sustain the household for the first 72 hours after a hurricane hits the area. Frank Lundy, Baldwin County Highway Dept. told us Lillian has 7.5 miles of unpaved roads. He also brought us up to date on the new boat ramp due to open in November. Thanks to Bill Broach who arranges for the informative programs.
