Cambridge with Indonesia is a series of events showing how
school leaders and teachers can be inspired to give their young
learners the foundational knowledge and skills needed as they
grow up in this rapidly changing and unpredictable world. These
events provide opportunities to listen to subject experts in teaching
science and English, to network, to share knowledge, and to browse
the extensive range of learning materials and resources

Speakers’ profile
Allen Davenport is the Teacher Development Manager for
Southeast Asia at Cambridge University Press. He holds a BS in cultural
anthropology and linguistics and an MS in education with a
focus in academic counseling and student development. Allen has
been involved in English language teaching for more than a decade in
various roles including teacher, academic program coordinator,
certified examiner for multiple assessment organizations, and teacher
trainer. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and has presented
workshops and seminars on various topics throughout Asia and the Middle
East. His current interests involve integrating creativity into the classroom and investigating
how English language teaching is adapting to suit the needs of the 21st-century learner.

Philips Nicolas Gunawidjaja is a lecturer in the Physics Department


in Parahyangan Catholic University, Bandung. He gained his PhD in
Physics from the University of Warwick, UK, in the year 2000. He
continued to do postdoctoral studies on bioactive materials in
Stockholm University in 2009. For over 15 years, Dr Gunawidjaja has
been involved with training science teachers all over Indonesia and
has worked as a school consultant. He has helped many bilingual and
international schools to develop their curriculum and has worked
extensively with institutions to develop teachers and provide guidance
on aligning curricula to national standards.

Christin Widjaja earned her Master of Science from the Bandung Institute
of Technology and started her teaching career in 1999 as a physics lecturer
at Parahyangan University Bandung (UNPAR). In 2007 she decided to
dedicate her life more specifically to basic science education and has
been involved directly as a classroom teacher and science department
coordinator in Cahaya Bangsa Classical School for 12 years. She is also
a physics examiner for Cambridge Assessment International Education
and active magistrate in Sophia Wisdom House, a classical learning centre
in Bandung. Christin has successfully faced the multi-faceted struggle of
teaching science to teenagers, and hopes to share her extensive experience and best practices
with teachers of all scientific disciplines and age groups.
