Definition

- A short story that typically (but not always) features entities such as dwarfs, dragons,
fairies, giants, gnomes, mermaids, trolls, unicorns.
- Usually features magic or enchantments.

In general sense:
something blind with usual happiness, or a "fairy-tale ending"

Brothers Grimm

- The brothers lived together under the same roof.


- Their book the Grimms' Fairy Tales was published in 1812.
- The first edition contend 86 stories.
- In the seventh editor had 211 fairytales.

- At first the fairytales weren't suitable for children because of their cruelty.
- But after many changes for example the wicked mother turned into a step- mother in
Snow White.
