Media has brought about a major transformation in the way people think.
Watchdog for the public interest- Media is the watchdog for public interest in many ways. One of the
main ways is to create public awareness of what is going on with businesses and government officials.
The media plays an important role in giving people the opportunity to act against injustice, oppression
and misdeeds that they otherwise wouldn’t know about.
Make media outlets a two-way platform- Creating a two-way platform between the community and
those who are behind the radio stations, newspapers or broadcasts makes the community feel involved
and that their voices are being heard. An organization called Soul City in sub-Saharan Africa is showing
how well two-way platforms work by engaging their listeners and having them contribute thoughts and
ideas about complex issues.
Aids in developing an identity: TV shows, series, and movies with good-quality content can help your
tween and teen develop an identity. For example, a movie that reflects gender equality may motivate a
teen to follow that in their life. You can strike up a discussion on such issues to educate your child.
Different media inform us about what is happening in the country and in the
world. This information helps us to be in touch with reality and to understand
what is happening around us and, of course, to understand what is happening to
the other.
The media creates its content according to what they themselves want to
communicate or based on what the public wants to see. The continuity of certain
media content, for example, a television show, depends on the success that
reaches it. That means that if a singing talent show succeeds and generates a lot
of money, several similar TV shows are going to appear. Therefore many people
will want to participate in these programs, becoming an inspiration for those who
want to be famous. In this way a new reality has been created: the path to
immediate fame is to participate in a television talent show.
The purpose of a media is to give information about current news, gossips, Fashion, and the
latest gadgets in the marketplace of the people. The role of a media has to be one way trading
and marketing of products, and prejudices. It gives geographical knowledge about how people
divided.
It Can Give Voice to the Voiceless. From reporters bringing us stories of people in difficult situations to
social media allowing one person's thoughts to go viral and spread across the world, mass media can lift
up an individual voice that would otherwise have gone unheard.
Mass media is virtually a current awareness service informing people about current events and activities
of human beings and about every significant natural phenomenon and such others of public interest.
Where would business be without advertising and marketing? Thanks to the business
communication made possible by mass media, businesses can reach potential consumers faster
and easier than ever before. This helps keep our economy going.
