THE GRAMMAR LESSON

A communicative grammar lesson allows students to practice the target grammar. The
initial stages of a communicative grammar lesson often focus on accuracy, while fluency
becomes more important during the practice stage. Communicative tasks are important
because they allow learners to practice the target grammatical feature under "real operating
conditions". Communicative grammar practice has often focused on speaking activities;
however, writing activities are also an important and valid way to practice the
communicative use of grammar.

2.1 Presentation

Present to the class to anticipate the students the topic to be discussed in class. Role of the
teacher: the teacher must greet his students and give a short introduction to the subject of
the class. Student role: the student attends to the teacher's instructions and takes notes (if
necessary)

2.2 Focused Practice

In which the student manipulates the structure in question while all other variables are held
constant. The purpose of this step is to allow the learner to gain control of the form of
communication. The teacher should not proceed to the next phase until the majority of the
students have mastered at least the form of the structure. Allow the student to gain control
of the grammar without pressure and with the aim of using the form for good
communication.

2.3 Communicative practice

The duty of the communicative practice, whether written or oral, must achieve the
objective, which is that the student can communicate. Students should be prepared to be
confident communicators for different real-life contexts through repetitive oral practice and
student-student cooperation. Here, the teacher does not interfere with the student because it
is not convenient while the student interacts with others in the class and thus develops
skills. In this communicative stage of a grammar lesson, some exercises that are used are
important, such as games, dramatizations and debate activities, these are very effective
methods during

communicative practice since they allow students to develop their skills in a safe
environment. where they are not afraid to express themselves.

2.4 Feedback and correction

Prepare students to be confident communicators for different real-life contexts, through

repetitive oral practice and student-to-student learning. The teacher must make an excellent
feedback since it will be known if there were errors, and know the concept of an error, it
must be clear that the duty is of the studied topic, a list of the common errors of the students
is also created, for example, ellipses, capitalization, punctuation, the use of time
expressions and spelling. The student, on the other hand, has the role of making notes of the
mistakes he has made and paying attention to the feedback since this way he can correct
them, apart from being the protagonist, which makes him be active and participatory in
class together with his classmates. and ask questions.
