CONTROL LOGIC FOR NITRIC ACID RECOVERY

LIGNOCELLULOSIC BIOMASS PILOT PLANT

India Glycols Ltd., Kashipur

Logic for Nitric Acid Recovery.

A. MF SYSTEM

1. Fix set points for Flow controller PID-401 as permeate flow respectively.
2. Start the pump P-402 & P -403.
3. Differential pressure difference of PT-401 & PT-402 and PT-402 & PT-404 needs to be
indicated on the panel
4. Trans pressure difference of PT-401 & PT-404 needs to be indicated in panel.
5. If Actual permeate or retentate flowrate is less then set flowrate due to which there
will be some changes in Trans pressure difference. In that case it can be adjusted by
throttling recycle line through AV-407 from the panel whose flowrate is measured
manually through FM-401.
6. If Actual Permeate is more then set flowrate it is automatically adjusted by control
valve PID-401.
7. If Actual Retentate is more then set flowrate it is adjusted manually by V-404 whose
flow is indiacted through FT-402 on the panel.
8. CIP of the membranes should be separate from CIP of the Tanks and its isolation
needs to be considerate.
9. CIP of Tanks, Pipes & Pumps should be either integrated with CIP logic of
Fermentation system or its in the scope of IGL.

B. NF SYSTEM

1. Start the pump P-609 & P -610.

2. Manually adjust the flowrate of permeate and retentate by throttling valve V-411 &
V-413 respectively.
3. If Actual permeate flowrate or retentate flowrate is less then set flowrate which is
seen manually through flow meter FM-402 & FM-403. In that case it can be adjusted
by throttling recycle line through V-420 manually and whose flowrate can be seen
through flowmeter FM-404.
4. If Actual Permeate is more then set flowrate it is adjusted by throttling manual valve
V-411 from Panel.
5. if Actual Retentate is more then set flowrate it is adjusted by throttling valve V-413.
6. Pressure and flowrates of Permeate & Retentate line needs to be indicated on panel.
7. The valves which throttled for controlling flow (V-411, V-413 & V-420) needs to be
done through panel.
