Matthew Taylor Lectures = spring Term 2023 , 10 lectures in 9
this course celebrates the work of these three mighty figures all of whom were born in
the same year. The range of music is so immense that this nine week course offers
works which convey the essence of their composers’ art in contrasting genres-from
mighty vocal works, the passions of Bach oratorio Judas Maccabeus by Handel to smaller
concertos, from orchestral works to pieces for solo keyboard. Ending with Anthems for
the coronation of George II, soon to be followed by the coronation of King Charles III.
Nine sessions starting 9th January.
