Fire Fighting Control Officer Role

 Controls and monitors the fire alarm panels, detectors, manual call points, gas monitors, clean agent extinguishing
system, supervisory controls, monitoring and maintaining the fire communication system in a state of readiness.
 Maintains a log of alarms, false alarms, faults and open/close status occurring during each shift and reports defects
for repairs
 Receives emergency calls regarding life, property, fires, and rescue operations from within the Plant and offsite.
 Communicates and alerts all calls to the Fire Shift Supervisors, the Fire Section Head and related members of the
Incident Management Team.
 Receives emergency calls from the Emergency Crisis room (ECC) and responds according to established procedures.
 Maintains communication with the fire teams during outside emergency calls.
 Monitors and maintains the fire siren system in a state of readiness in coordination with maintenance personnel.
 Monitors and ensures the testing of fire pumps and fire water pressure, including the fire system pressure.

Industrial/Aviation Fire Fighter & Rope Rescuer Roles

 Participate in on-going classroom and practical training in fire prevention, emergency medical skills,
firefighting techniques, principles and procedures, salvage and overhaul, rescue operations, hazardous
materials, disaster response, and other related emergency skills.
 Maintain minimum initial training requirements and attend 7 training sessions per month.
 Respond to fire alarms, and other calls for assistance such as automobile and industrial accidents, as a
member of a firefighting team, by monitoring a pager 24 hours a day, by direct response and/or by riding
fire apparatus to the scene of the fire.
 Observe aircraft arrivals and departures
