Ankle Break

It was a cold and snowy winter day, and Rachel was excited to go on a hike with
her friends. They had been planning the outing for weeks and had finally found a
day where the weather was clear enough to go. Rachel packed a backpack with
snacks, water, and warm clothes and set out to meet her friends at the trailhead.

The trail was covered in a layer of fresh snow, making it both beautiful and
treacherous. They hiked carefully, taking their time and helping each other over the
icy patches. After a few hours, they reached the top of the mountain and took a
break to enjoy the view. Rachel pulled out her camera and snapped some pictures
of the stunning landscape.

As they started to make their way back down the mountain, Rachel's foot slipped
on a patch of ice and she lost her balance. She tumbled down the slope, her
backpack flying off her shoulders and her arms flailing. She came to a stop at the
bottom, her head throbbing and her body aching. Her friends rushed to her side,
asking if she was okay. Rachel tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through her leg.
She looked down and saw that her ankle was twisted at an awkward angle.

Her friends tried to help her stand, but it was clear that she wouldn't be able to
walk on her own. They called for help and waited, huddled together for warmth.
Rachel was shivering and in a lot of pain, but she tried to stay positive and keep
her friends calm. It felt like hours before they heard the sound of a rescue
helicopter in the distance. Rachel was relieved and grateful as the rescue team
lifted her onto a stretcher and into the helicopter.

The ride to the hospital was a blur of pain and worry. Rachel was relieved when
they finally arrived and she was able to receive treatment. It turned out that she had
fractured her ankle and would need to be in a cast for the next few weeks. It was a
disappointing end to their hike, but Rachel was just glad to be alive and on the road
to recovery. She knew that she had her friends to thank for helping her through the
tough day.
