The Importance of Bible Dates In The New Testament (2)

W E continue to examine the reasons why dates in the New Testament are important to know. I would
argue that we should know, not only the dates for the New Testament, but also the Old Testament. Knowing
dates helps us to appreciate more the Word of God. So, with this in mind, let me provide two more reasons
why knowing dates in the Bible is important.

Knowing the dates in the Bible helps us to appreciate the inspiration of the Holy Scriptures. The Book of
Isaiah contains several Messianic prophecies that find their fulfillment in the New Testament. This book was
written at about 750 B.C. This means that all of the prophecies which we read about in this book had their
fulfillment 750 years later. This truth speaks volumes regarding the inspiration of the Scriptures. We may
consider, not only the book of Isaiah, but also Psalms. In this book we find several prophecies regarding the
death of Christ. These prophecies were uttered about 1,000 years before their actual fulfilment. This, also,
speaks in favor of Bible inspiration.

Knowing the dates in the Bible helps us to appreciate the great truth that Christians can remain faithful
throughout their Christian life. We may speculate that Paul is mentioned for the first time in Acts 6:9, as the
one who came from Cilicia and who debated Stephen (cf. Acts 22:3). In Acts 7:58 Paul is referenced as a
young man. The events in Acts 7 took place at about 35 A.D. It is believed that this young man obeyed the
gospel that same year (Acts 9:1-18). In the book of Philemon, v. 9, Paul is mentioned as the aged one. Then,
in Acts 28, we read about the last events in the life of Paul. The events in Acts 28 took place at about 61-63
A.D. It is believed that the last letter of Paul was 2 Timothy, which was written at about 67-68 A.D. Keeping
these dates in mind helps us to see how the apostle Paul continued to live a faithful life of service in Jesus
Christ throughout his entire Christian life. From the beginning of his conversion at about 35 A.D. (being a
young person) to the end of his life at about 68 A.D. Paul gave us an example of what it means to live for
Christ (Philippians 1:21). Living a faithful life in Christ is possible with God’s help.

In the next article, I will provide the dates for teach book of the Old and the New Testament. My suggestion
to you is to write these dates down in your Bibles, since this will help you as you diligently study God’s

La Importancia de las Fechas Bíblicas en el Nuevo Testamento (2)

S EGUIMOS examinando las razones por las que es importante conocer las fechas en el Nuevo Testamento. Yo
diría que debemos saber, no sólo las fechas para el Nuevo Testamento, sino también el Antiguo. Saber fechas
nos ayuda a apreciar más la Palabra de Dios. Por lo tanto, con esto en mente, permítanme proporcionar dos razo-
nes más por las que saber fechas en la Biblia es importante.

Conocer las fechas en la Biblia nos ayuda a apreciar la inspiración de las Sagradas Escrituras. El Libro de Isaías
contiene varias profecías mesiánicas que encuentran su cumplimiento en el Nuevo Testamento. Este libro fue es-
crito aproximadamente en el 750 A.C. Esto significa que todas las profecías que leemos en este libro tuvieron su
cumplimiento 750 años después. Esta verdad dice mucho sobre la inspiración de las Escrituras. Podemos conside-
rar, no sólo el libro de Isaías, sino también los Salmos. En este libro encontramos varias profecías respecto a la
muerte de Cristo. Estas profecías fueron proferidas aproximadamente 1,000 años antes de su cumplimiento real.
Esto también habla en favor de la inspiración bíblica.

Conocer las fechas en la Biblia nos ayuda a apreciar la gran verdad de que los Cristianos pueden permanecer fie-
les a lo largo de su vida Cristiana. Podemos especular que Pablo es mencionado por primera vez en Hechos 6:9,
como el que vino de Cilicia y que discutió con Esteban (ver Hechos 22:3). En Hechos 7:58 Pablo es mencionado
como un hombre joven. Los acontecimientos en Hechos 7 ocurrieron alrededor del 35 D.C. Se cree que este joven
obedeció el evangelio ese mismo año (Hechos 9:1-18). En el libro de Filemón, v. 9, Pablo es mencionado como un
anciano. Luego, en Hechos 28, leemos acerca de los últimos acontecimientos en la vida de Pablo. Los aconteci-
mientos de Hechos 28 se llevaron a cabo alrededor del año 61-63 D.C. Se cree que la última carta de Pablo fue 2
Timoteo, la cual fue escrita alrededor del año 67-68 D.C. Mantener estas fechas en mente nos ayuda a ver cómo el
apóstol Pablo continuó viviendo una vida fiel de servicio en Jesucristo a lo largo de toda su vida Cristiana. Desde
el comienzo de su conversión alrededor del año 35 D.C. (siendo un joven) hasta el final de su vida alrededor del
68 D.C. Pablo nos dio un ejemplo de lo que significa vivir para Cristo toda la vida (Filipenses 1:21). Vivir una vi-
da fiel en Cristo es posible con la ayuda de Dios.
