The map depicts how the British village of wells-on-the-water was developed over the years

from 1985 to 2010.

As an overall trend, over the period shown, the village experienced various changes with the
appearance of traffic system and entertainment areas in order to create more space for
transportation and improve people’s living standards.

It can be seen clearly that in 1985, there were mansion gardens and mansion house in the
center of the village. Meanwhile, an old factory was located in the west of this village. In
addition, farmland was situated in the north and on the western side of the River Wells which ran
along the east of the village. There were 2 main roads named Woods Driver and Mansion Lane.
A farmhouse and a post office were conducted along the Mansion Lane.

There were a lot of changes taking place in this city after 25 years. At present, only Mansion
Gardens remained unchanged throughout the period. By 2010, the Mansion House was converted
into a care home while the replacement of the old factory by luxury flats was seen in the west of
the village. Besides, the northern farmland was removed to give place for a new commercial and
entertainment area. In addition, a new access road named Queen’s Drive was constructed to
connect Woods Drive to the area northeast of the village. In the south of the village, Mansion
Lane was extended and a bridge was built across the river leading to the east. New houses were
constructed on both sides of Mansion Lane. On the other hand, the old farmhouse was
demolished and replaced with a park.
